Alistair Nelson at Lodge Farm, Tibthorpe came to Discover Energy through a recommendation after visiting a 200kWp system that we had already completed on another local farm.
Discover Energy undertook full due diligence by conducting comprehensive site surveys on numerous farms for Alistair and obtaining permission from the local Distribution
Network Operator to connect to the grid. As with any survey this was completely free of charge and the end results were presented in a clear and comprehensive manner detailing
the proposed installation, equipment, system payback and of course costs.
Alistair accepted the proposal for a 30kWp installation consisting of 120 solar panels and the installation was mounted to the roof of his grain store. Discover Energy
commissioned an independent structural engineer to ensure the building could handle the additional weight loading prior to the installation commencing which took one week
from start to finish.
The farm now benefits from an additional revenue stream created by the Feed-in-Tariff. The profile of solar PV maximum generation also fits well with when the dryer is
used on site therefore, reducing the farms electricity bills considerably.
