Alistair Brown at Manor House Farm, Etton came to Discover Energy following an advertisement in the Yorkshire Post.
Discover Energy undertook full due diligence by conducting comprehensive site surveys on numerous farms for Alistair and obtaining permission from the local
Distribution Network Operator to connect to the grid. As with any survey this was completely free of charge and the end results were presented in a clear and
comprehensive manner detailing the proposed installation, equipment, system payback and of course costs.
Alistair accepted the proposal for a 50kWp installation consisting of 200 solar panels. This was mounted on the warehouse roof and the full installation works
were completed within 2 weeks. Discover Energy commissioned an independent structural engineer to ensure the building could handle the additional weight loading
prior to the work commencing.
The farm now benefits from an additional revenue stream created by the Feed-in-Tariff as well as cheaper electricity bills. Alistair, the farm owner, manages
a successful business from the farm recycling and shredding paper that is used as horse bedding and the solar PV system will contribute significantly to the
machines electricity usage.
